THAILAND, BANGKOK : Experience Low Carbon Travel with Sustainability Tourism.

Releasing the message that environmentally friendly practices are paramount in the hospitality industry this event will underscore the significance of sustainable practices in tourism. By showcasing low-carbon transportation solutions Amari Bangkok and GB Limousine aim to set a benchmark for the industry encouraging businesses to integrate eco-friendly initiatives into their operations.

Thus the Experience Low Carbon Travel with Sustainability Tourism was initiated with collaboration from representatives of various related organizations including Khun Sukamal Mondal the Area General Manager for Bangkok at Amari Bangkok Khun Satit Chivangkur the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for GB Limousine Khan Pej Prapakittikun Sustainism Director and Khun Kitti Pornsiwakit TAT Board of Director / President of Smart Tourism Committee TCT.

Collaborate to establish environmentally friendly tourism standards.

Khun Sukamal Mondal, the Area General Manager for Bangkok at Amari Bangkok, will highlight the hotel’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. “Implementing ESG principles not only benefits the environment and society but also enhances our hotel’s reputation, attracts conscious travellers, and can lead to long-term financial success. By committing to ESG, Amari Bangkok can play a crucial role in creating a more sustainable and equitable world.” 

Amari Bangkok has long been dedicated to sustainability, with various initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact, supporting local communities, and promoting ethical governance. These efforts not only help preserve the planet but also resonate with a growing segment of travellers who prioritise sustainability in their travel choices.

Khun Satit Chivangkur, CMO of GB Limousine, will discuss the company’s strategy to integrate ESG principles into their business model. “By embedding ESG principles into our business model, we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance. This approach not only ensures long-term customer satisfaction and loyalty but also positions us as a responsible and forward-thinking leader in the limousine industry.” 

GB Limousine’s commitment to sustainability includes the adoption of low-emission vehicles, implementing eco-friendly practices, and engaging in community-driven projects. These measures not only reduce the company’s carbon footprint but also enhance its brand value and customer trust.

Khun Kitti Pornsiwakit, Board of Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Chairman of the Smart Tourism Subcommittee of the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT), stated that sustainable tourism consists of three key components: People, Planet, and Profit. The “Planet” component involves environmental conservation in four areas: reducing energy consumption, waste management, water management, and selecting low-carbon suppliers. The “People” component aims to educate and adapt three groups – tourists, communities, and businesses – to low-carbon tourism. Lastly, the “Profit” component ensures that both businesses and communities benefit financially, enabling them to continue sustainably and balanced.

TAT is committed to driving sustainable tourism through various standards and campaigns, such as the STG STAR Standard (Sustainable Tourism Goal), which is adapted from the UN’s 17 SDGs. The “Sustainism” campaign aims to create a network of entrepreneurs across all professions in collaboration with the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT), which oversees over 50,000 businesses. This involves using innovation and designing low-carbon travel routes that preserve both the environment and local cultural identity. The collaboration between TAT and TCT in promoting sustainable tourism aims to elevate more than 10,000 tourism businesses to achieve the STG STAR standard and to reestablish Thailand as a global leader in sustainable and balanced tourism.

Khun Pej Prapakittikun, Project Director of The Sustainism Project, will present an overview of the initiative dedicated to fostering a sustainable business ecosystem. The sustainable tourism activities have been developed in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand as part of the Sustainism project. This initiative focuses on gathering and elevating businesses in the tourism industry, such as restaurants, hotels, transportation companies, tour operators, and tourist attractions, to accommodate travelers from around the world who prioritize sustainable tourism. The project also involves promoting these activities and destinations through media partners to international tourists.

The collaboration of various organizations in this event serves as an excellent example of building a sustainable business ecosystem. It requires cooperation and patience to achieve long-term sustainability in the tourism industry. The Experience Low Carbon Travel with Sustainability Tourism event was well-received by participating businesses, who experienced eco-friendly concepts and practices firsthand and learned sustainable business operations.
