SSA Recognition — Declaration of Recognition for Sustainable Suppliers

SSA Recognition is a UN-aligned declaration of recognition framework developed by stnsm.org through the CSCAP platform in collaboration with regional and international partners. The framework is designed to support Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) by connecting businesses, public institutions, investors, and supply chain actors within a transparent ecosystem that emphasizes verifiable sustainability performance, responsible governance, and measurable outcomes. The purpose of this declaration is to record and communicate credible sustainability efforts and results in a manner that supports procurement decisions, investment assessments, and regional cooperation across the Asia-Pacific.

stnsm.org does not certify or accredit companies. Instead, the SSA framework operates as a structured mechanism for acknowledging organizations that have been assessed or verified by recognized independent institutions, standards bodies, or competent authorities accepted within the SSA ecosystem. To be declared as an SSA participant or Sustainable Supplier, an organization must demonstrate evidence of sustainability-related practices, disclosures, or performance that have been reviewed, validated, or recognized by entities deemed appropriate within the governance framework of stnsm.org and its partner network. This approach ensures that recognition is grounded in existing verification systems and credible institutional processes rather than self-declaration.

Through the SSA mechanism, participating organizations are documented through published reports and platform disclosures, including their activities, initiatives, and measurable sustainability outcomes. These records serve as an evidence-based reference for buyers, financial institutions, and investors seeking to understand supply chain risk, sustainability performance, and alignment with regional and global sustainability expectations. By recording and communicating verified sustainability activities, the SSA framework helps reduce information asymmetry, strengthen market confidence, and support the integration of sustainability into procurement, financing, and investment decisions.

The SSA framework also supports organizations in aligning sustainability targets, implementation pathways, monitoring processes, and reporting structures with Sustainable Consumption and Production principles and relevant SDG-related expectations. While stnsm.org facilitates coordination, documentation, and reporting, all verification, certification, or formal accreditation must originate from recognized organizations or competent authorities acknowledged within the SSA ecosystem. This distinction ensures that the declaration of recognition remains transparent, credible, and aligned with international governance practices.

Integrity and Whistleblower Notice

To safeguard the credibility of the SSA declaration of recognition and the transparency of sustainable supply chain systems, stnsm.org maintains a governance and reporting mechanism that allows stakeholders to submit information in good faith. If any party identifies misrepresentation, inaccurate sustainability claims, or conduct inconsistent with disclosed ESG or SDG-related performance, evidence may be submitted to whistleblower@stnsm.org. Reports may be provided confidentially and without identifying the source. All submissions are reviewed through an independent governance process designed to support transparency, accountability, and confidence in the SSA framework and its alignment with recognized ESG standards and Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) principles.

Where credible and verifiable evidence indicates potential SCP washing, misuse of sustainability symbols, or procurement practices that raise concerns regarding fair and transparent competition, stakeholders are encouraged to submit documented information for review. If findings are substantiated, the related activities or conduct may be formally recorded in CSCAP reports and reflected in structured risk documentation associated with the CSCAP platform at the United Nations. Such recording is intended to strengthen governance integrity, protect buyers and investors from structural ESG risks, and ensure that sustainability claims correspond to verifiable and measurable outcomes.

In a global market where ESG disclosures, supply chain transparency, and sustainability standards directly influence procurement, financing, and investment decisions, evidence-based sustainable procurement is essential to market stability and investor confidence. The value of trust created through transparent and verifiable purchasing relationships cannot be replaced by short-term commercial transactions. Strengthening accountability and responsible conduct across supply chains therefore supports resilient, credible, and investable sustainable economies throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
