Advisory Board – Distinguished Expert in Waste Management and Circular Economy Governance

The Secretariat hereby formally announces the appointment of Mr. Patarapol Tularak as Advisory Board Member – Distinguished Expert in Waste Management, entrusted with the mandate to serve as an intellectual and strategic pillar in advancing environmental governance, reinforcing institutional credibility, and strengthening the national transition toward sustainable resource management in alignment with internationally recognised sustainability principles and standards.

Mr. Patarapol is widely recognised as one of Thailand’s foremost authorities in waste management, packaging governance, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), with a professional standing consistently acknowledged among the Top 100 experts in the field nationwide. He currently serves as Vice President of the Waste Management Association of Thailand, a principal professional body playing a strategic leadership role in defining the national direction, structural architecture, and regulatory framework of Thailand’s waste management system — an institution central to guiding the country toward a sustainable, low-carbon, and circular economy future.

His career reflects profound expertise that transcends technical implementation, extending into policy architecture, legal framework design, and system-level governance reform. Mr. Tularak has actively contributed to shaping national and regional waste management policies, including the advancement of Deposit Return Systems (DRS) and EPR mechanisms, while providing consultancy to leading international institutions such as the United Nations agencies, multilateral development banks, and global environmental organisations.

Through his integrative approach combining environmental engineering, chemical sciences, and governance systems, Mr. Patarapol has redefined waste management from a marginal operational function into a strategic national instrument for climate mitigation, environmental risk reduction, and sustainable development. His work consistently demonstrates the capacity to link scientific integrity with policy execution, enabling scalable frameworks that respond effectively to urban, industrial, and community-level sustainability challenges.

This appointment reflects the Secretariat’s commitment to elevating the governance of waste management as a foundational pillar of sustainable development, reinforcing Thailand’s international standing in environmental responsibility, and embedding circular economy principles into national institutional practice. Mr. Patarapol’s leadership is entrusted with advancing systems that transform waste from an environmental burden into a measurable asset for national resilience, ecological integrity, and sustainable prosperity.

The Secretariat expresses its highest confidence that Mr. Patarapol’s role, both as a national professional leader and as a distinguished expert within this institution, will significantly contribute to the strategic advancement of Thailand’s sustainability trajectory and its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and global environmental governance frameworks.
