Advisory Board – Distinguished Expert in Tech & Digital for Sustainable Development

The Secretariat hereby formally announces the appointment of Mr. Pongprom Yamarat as an Advisory Board Member – Distinguished Expert in TECH & DIGITAL for Sustainable Development, with the mandate to advance the strategic deployment of digital innovation as a transformative instrument for transparency, accountability, and measurable sustainability — particularly in addressing systemic risks arising from environmental degradation, energy governance, public health inequality, and structural barriers to equitable access to clean air and preventive well-being infrastructure.
With over two decades of experience as a pioneer and driving force behind organisations that have significantly influenced Thailand’s socio-cultural and sustainability paradigm—most notably be our friend and Big Trees Social Enterprise—and through his former role as Advisor to the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Yamarat has consistently demonstrated a systems-based vision that transcends fragmented development models. His work reflects a profound integration of technology, energy infrastructure, and public health, positioning him as a key architect in redefining sustainable development frameworks.
Mr. Yamarat has long recognised that the legacy structure of the energy industry remains a primary contributor to air pollution, particularly PM2.5 particulate matter, and the escalating emission of greenhouse gases that intensify global warming. These factors directly impact chronic disease prevalence, public health burdens, and widening societal inequalities. His perspective is rooted not merely in technical analysis but in a principled policy stance affirming the right to clean air as a fundamental human right, deserving equitable protection and institutional accountability.
His engagement in the energy sector, therefore, has never been driven solely by industrial or economic considerations. Rather, it represents a deliberate effort to transform the role of energy into a foundational pillar of public well-being—mitigating environmental risks, strengthening long-term human security, and embedding health, safety, and human dignity at the core of national development.
In this context, Mr. Yamarat has consistently championed the role of technology and digital systems as the critical connective architecture linking energy policy with health outcomes. Through the deployment of advanced data intelligence, risk analytics, and digital platforms, he promotes transparency in impact measurement, real-time air quality monitoring, and preventive system design—ensuring that sustainability is not an abstract aspiration, but a demonstrable and accountable reality.
His leadership has elevated public discourse from reactive pollution management towards the systemic reconfiguration of an integrated ecosystem uniting Clean Energy, Digital Intelligence, and Preventive Health into a coherent structural framework. This approach seeks to reduce health inequities and ensure equitable access to clean air, health data, and preventive care mechanisms—laying the foundation for a resilient and just society.
This appointment embodies the Secretariat’s commitment to advancing governance that places technology in service of ethical responsibility, health equity, environmental stability, and the long-term quality of life for present and future generations. Mr. Yamarat’s vision exemplifies the transformation of digital innovation into a moral and strategic force for sustainable human progress, fully aligned with global principles of sustainable development.
